About the role
The Senior Database Engineer improves performance and reliability of distributed databases and advises engineering teams on safe database changes. This role focuses on managing workload, schema, queries, and capacity in a CockroachDB environment.
What you’ll do
• Improve database performance and identify bottlenecks. • Diagnose distributed database issues and partner with engineers. • Establish performance baselines and monitor workload changes. • Advise teams on schema migrations and database risks. • Develop safer migration procedures and operational practices.
What you’ll bring
• 5+ years operating and optimizing production databases. • Experience managing distributed databases and high availability. • Strong SQL skills and understanding of distributed SQL trade-offs. • Ability to assess database change risks and explain trade-offs. • Legal authorization to work in the USA without sponsorship.
